Does Pickleball Make You Smarter?

Bill Gates’ favorite sport has been Pickleball for over 50 years, which begs the question - does playing Pickleball actually make you more intelligent?

It probably won’t turn you into a computer software building genius. But if your mission is to live a long, healthy life, then it’s certainly a smart move to play some Pickle.

Recent studies show that Pickleball has remarkable health benefits.

  • Physical: Significantly improves cardiovascular health, strength, balance, coordination and agility.

  • Mental: Boosts mood while reducing anxiety, stress, and risk of depression

  • Social: Fosters a supportive community & reduces feelings of loneliness.

In fact, particularly among older players, Pickleball has shown to improve decision-making, problem-solving, and memory consolidation! Turns out, Pickleball can make you smarter. Thanks for leading the way Bill.

Did You Know? The record for the longest professional Pickleball rally is 16,046 shots.

That’s about 9 straight hours of dinking! I wouldn’t want to be waiting on the sideline to play the winner…

For beginners, the average rally is usually 3-4 shots.

For intermediate players, you can expect a rally to last 6-8 shots

For the pros out there, it’s normal to see 20+ shots in a rally

Why should you care?

  • To perform your best, you need to be mentally focused for the entire rally. Click here to learn 4 tips to help you stay focused on the court.

  • The better you get, the more physically and mentally taxing each point becomes. As your skill level improves, it’s important to use off-court training to prepare your mind and body for longer rallies.

Joint of the Day: Hips

When it comes to optimal hip health, we often overlook rotational capability.

If you want to be more mobile and pain free on the court, then rotational training NEEDS to be a part of your daily routine.

Here’s how to begin.

Start with internal rotation exercises. That is usually the first range of motion we lose, and the most neglected aspect of hip training.

The video below demonstrates 3 easy ways to improve your internal hip rotation.

Remember, you should avoid any movements that cause pinching or pain in the hip. These exercises are designed to help you safely improve your hip mobility and function.

Where in the world is AIM7?

Over the Memorial Day weekend, we were at the HTX Open hosted by PALA Pickleball in Houston. We helped warmup the players from sun up to sun down, ensuring that each athlete was ready to compete at their highest level while reducing injury risk.

There was overwhelming support from the players!

One of the Indy Drivers’ top Senior pros and a member at PALA, Bernard LeBlanc, explains how he feels the AIM7 difference after just a few weeks!

Thanks to Bernard for sharing his AIM7 experience! We’re on a mission to help the Pickleball community feel better and play better.

See you on the court,
