🥵 HEADS UP! Don't Push Too Hard In The Gym
Plus, Megan Fudge’s keys to taking her Pickleball game on the road

To succeed in tournaments, you’ve got to bring your A-game wherever you go.
Big shoutout to AIM7 athlete Megan Fudge, who is the all-time medal leader on the APP Tour!

She just snagged the women’s singles gold at the latest APP event in Chicago. With AIM7’s performance team behind her, we’re starting to think jet lag is scared of her.
Seriously - Megan doesn’t slow down.
In the last few weeks, she’s dominated the English Open, crushed it at the Monsoon Championships 2.0 in Mumbai, and then casually strolled into Chicago to win more gold.
So how does she keep winning despite battling jet lag and more time zones than we can count?
Here are a few tips pros like Megan use to stay on top of their game while globetrotting:
Before You Travel:
Shift Your Sleep: Start moving your bedtime earlier (heading east) or later (heading west) a few days before flying.
Hydrate & Eat Right: Healthy habits make adjusting easier—your body will thank you!
Exercise Smart: Keep moving, but don’t overdo it right before bed.
Limit Caffeine & Alcohol: Both mess with your sleep, so save the celebration for after the tournament!
During the Flight:
Hydrate: Water is your best friend. Keep sipping.
Sleep Smart: Nap according to your destination’s time zone. Struggle to sleep on planes? Pack earplugs, an eye mask, and that neck pillow you always forget.
Move Around: Stretch and stroll the aisles to keep your circulation going.
Ditch the Screens: Save your Netflix binge for another time—blue light messes with your sleep.
After You Arrive:
Reset Your Circadian Clock: Match your sleep with the local time and be sure to get plenty of sunlight during the day.
Stay Active: Light exercise like walking helps your body adjust quicker.
No Napping Allowed: Push through until local bedtime to reset your body’s clock.
Fuel Your Body Right: Drink plenty of water and eat healthy, balanced meals to adjust faster.

We get it—pushing yourself to the limit feels like the fast track to progress. But here’s the thing: that’s a total MYTH!
More intensity doesn’t always equal more gains. Training smarter, not harder, is the way to go - and that’s where Zone 2 training comes in.
There are 5 heart rate zones. Zone 1 is your chill walk around the block, while Zone 5 is basically sprinting like you’re being chased by a bear.

But Zone 2 training? That’s the sweet spot. It’s a low-intensity workout that feels easy but delivers huge results—perfect for boosting your pickleball game. By building endurance in Zone 2, you’re improving your ability to stay quick, sharp, and strong on the court without burning out.
Zone 2 training will help you sustain longer rallies, recover quickly between points, and increase stamina to keep dominating through those long matches.
Ready to incorporate Zone 2 training into your routine? Here are 3 simple exercises to get you started:
Walking at a brisk pace
A comfortable bike ride on flat ground
Stair climbing at an easy pace
Want to dive into the science behind Zone 2 cardio? Check out this Zone 2 training blog to learn why your easiest workouts of the week could be your key to dominating on the court.
