Recovery Protocols That Actually Work…

Most of us experience soreness after pickleball. That’s ok - so long as intentional recovery is part of your pickleball routine!

Here’s a quick summary of what to use and when:

  • Right after play: Use ice packs for soreness, or compression boots to reduce swelling. If you have access to a cold plunge, that’s a great way to enhance recovery 🥶

  • Before and after matches: Foam roll tight areas like quads, hips, & glutes to improve mobility and prevent stiffness

  • During travel or off-days: Use NMES (electrical stimulation) to boost circulation without movement

  • 2–3x per week: Sauna sessions can promote full-body recovery and support better sleep

  • Bonus tip: Pair massage guns with foam rolling for deeper muscle relief without overstimulation
